G-TEC Torch Boosters Are Approved BY The NYC Department Of Buildings And Fire Department
G-TEC Torch Boosters are Approved for installation in New York City but FDNY requires a Certificate of Approval for each installation. TB-15 and TB-30 Torch Boosters are Approved city-wide with Certificate of Approval # 5120.
TB-60/125/250 and 500 Torch Boosters require a Site Specific Certificate of Approval for each installation.

Permit And Inspection Process For TB-15 And TB-30 Torch Boosters
G-TEC TB-15 and TB-30 Torch Boosters have city-wide Approval by the NYC Fire Dept., Certificate # 5120.
Read the current Certificate of Approval - you must comply with all of the Conditions stated on the Certificate of Approval
Per the NYC Department of Buildings G-TEC Torch Boosters do not require an MEA number
The following is the general process for purchasing and installing a G-TEC TB-15 / TB-30 Torch Booster

Purchase a Torch Booster from Gesswein or Landa International or directly from G-TEC if you don’t have an account with one of our Distributors.

Hire a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect to produce a drawing of the installation in accordance with all City codes, rules and regulations

Expediter files for PW-1 Permit with Department of Buildings

Department of Buildings Inspector visits jeweler’s location for initial inspection

Licensed Master Plumber installs the Torch Booster

Department of Buildings Inspector makes final inspection of installed Torch Booster

Jeweler calls the NYC Fire Dept. at 718-999-1510 to arrange final inspection for permit.

When all inspections are complete then the Torch Booster is ready to use!

Hire a Professional Engineer/Registered Architect to produce a drawing of the installation in accordance with all NYC codes, rules and regulations. In addition to Department of Buildings requirements the Fire Dept. requires that the drawing include the following information:

The gas connection/piping of the Torch Booster

How low pressure natural gas is supplied to the Torch Booster and how high-pressure gas is delivered to the torches, including all valves, check valves and other fittings required by NYC Codes, Rules and other Regulations.

The number and specification of the torches to be connected to the Torch Booster

The fire rating of the rooms that are situated directly adjacent to the designated natural gas Torch Booster room, including all applicable safety features such as fire protection system, mechanical ventilation, gas detector(s), or alarm system that is installed in the workshop.

This statement must appear on the drawing: “The use of the natural gas torch booster complies with all applicable NFPA Standards including, but not limited to NFPA 51 and the New York City Building Code, Fire Code, Fire Dept. Rule 2609-01 and Electrical Code.”

Expediter files drawing for PW-1 permit from Department of Buildings. When the Department of Buildings approves the drawing send a PDF of the drawings to G-TEC at info@gas-tec.com . THE PDF DRAWINGS MUST HAVE THE DOB APPROVAL STAMP - DRAWINGS WHICH DO NOT DISPLAY THE DOB APPROVAL STAMP WILL BE REJECTED.

G-TEC files for site-specific Certificate of Approval.

Fire Dept. Inspector inspects jeweler’s facility

Fire Dept. sends a draft Certificate of Approval to G-TEC. This draft is reviewed with the business owner or person in charge of the facility to explain conditions. The representative is required to sign a statement acknowledging review of the draft Certificate of Approval which is sent to the Fire Department then a final Certificate of Approval is issued.

Department of Buildings Inspector inspects jeweler’s facility

Licensed Master Plumber installs the Torch Booster - the system cannot be installed until the Fire Department has issued the draft Certificate of Approval.

After the Torch Booster is installed the Department of Buildings Inspector does final inspection

Jeweler calls the Fire Dept. at 718-999-1510 to arrange final inspection for permit.

When all inspections are complete the customer may begin using the Torch Booster in daily production.
